Meeting with the Mayor of Fort Lauderdale and Local Non-Profits

Marcis Skadmanis had the opportunity to meet Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis and discuss the non-profit sector and LGBTQ+ community in Fort Lauderdale. Through the mayor’s office, he was able to meet with executives from the Stonewall National Museum & Archives and Mount Olive Development Corp. 

At the museum, Marcis was able to take a tour of their rare archives and materials which is an impressive feat to know and better understand the history of LGBTQ+ community in Florida and Fort Lauderdale.

Next, Marcis had the incredible opportunity of spending time with Dr. Rosalind Osgood, president and CEO of the Mount Olive Development Corp and Democratic member of the Florida Senate. She shared a powerful and inspirational story about how her organisation is highly beneficial to non-profit initiatives and underprivileged communities.
