Business Advocacy
Marcis has made significant contributions to business advocacy and international relations, particularly between Latvia and the United Kingdom. He co-founded and served as COO/Executive Director of the Latvian-British Chamber of Commerce (LBCC) from October 2010 to February 2018. During his time in this role, Marcis played a crucial part in fostering bilateral trade relations and expanding market opportunities between the Baltic States and the UK.
Between 2010 and 2018, Marcis focused on developing new bilateral private market opportunities in several key sectors, including:
- Technology
- Tourism
- Fashion
- Municipality (Smart Cities)
Under his leadership, the LBCC organized impactful initiatives, such as the first Baltic Tech Trade Mission to London and Bristol in 2016, bringing together Baltic startups with UK investors and fostering partnerships in finance, smart cities, and technology. The Chamber’s activities also earned acknowledgment from the UK Prime Minister’s Investment Envoy for advancing economic connectivity between the two regions.
In 2016, Skadmanis was awarded an Honorary Degree (Hon. Causa) by Turiba University in recognition of his outstanding contributions to international relations and multinational business development. His work exemplifies a blend of visionary leadership and practical support for cross-border business innovation.
